Shokin dakan shoken hinagata

This is the model of security attached to the petition for issuing "Shokin dakan shoken" (Securities convertible to cash)" by the Mitsuigumi Bank presented by Hachiroemon Mitsui (the 8th head of the Mitsui Family 1808-85) in the 4th year of Meiji (1871). According to the petition, the total amount of issue was 3 million yen, and the cost, 34,386 yen. As it was impossible for Japan to print securities, 29,486 yen, exchanged at Yogin (Bank of Mexico) rate, was prepared for commission of securities printing to America.
