Edowan okatame ezu

The illustration shows the whole Edo Bay with Commodore Perry's fleet around Saru-shima Island (present day Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture), batteries along the coast and the guards sent from different domains. The inscription on the map states that Perry's fleet consisted of "2 fukaretto sailing ships of 26.7 ken, and 2 steam boats" and that they left the port on June 12, passed between Izu Peninsula and Oshima Island about 2:00 p.m. and then went out of sight". The ownership mark, "Henshuchi-shi biyo tenseki", indicates that map was the possession of the Shoheizaka Gakumonjo.
