- Most of them were once part of such fine collections as the Momijiyma Bunko, the Shoheizaka Gakumonjo the Wagaku Kodansho and Igakukan Collection owned by Tokugawa Shogunate. In addition to those collections, the it has many chinese classics formerly in the possession of old temples, Shakamon-in in Koyasan.
- Scope and Content
- A large collection of local publications, medical books, poetry books and other books from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, including Zong Dynasty books that are designated important cultural assets.Momijiyama Library includes a former collection of Tokugawa Ieyasu and local documents, collection of dramas written on closing days of Ming Dynasty and other documents imported from China by 8th shogun Yoshimune.The collection at Shoheizaka School includes a former collection of Hayashi Razan including “Rongo-shukai” and Zong Dynasty books presented by Lord Mori Takasue of Bungo Province and by Lord Ichihashi Nagaaki of Ohmi Province. Igaku-kan School inherited “Honso-tsuname” and former collection of medical official Taki of Tokugawa government, making it a treasure house of Ming and Qing Dynasty medical books together with books of the Momijiyama Library.The former collection of Shaka Bun’in of Koyasan Temple purchased by Meiji government includes many books published on closing days of Ming Dynasty such as “Soji” books.
