- In September 1947, the Special Procurement Board was setup taking over the operations of the Construction Department of the Postwar Liaison Central Administration Bureau and the Special Construction Bureau of the War Damage Reconstruction Unit. In June 1949 the Board became an external bureau of the Prime Minister's Office, changing its name to the Procurement Agency in April 1952. After reorganized as an external bureau of the Defense Agency in August 1958, the Agency was merged with the Department of Construction of the Defense Agency to form the Defense Facilities Administration Agency (DFAA) in November 1962.DFAA was abolished on September 1, 2007, after temporarily reorganized as an external bureau of the Ministry of Defence when the ministry was upgraded from an agency on January 9, 2007.
