The periods of administration for the above bureaus are as follows:|br|Sanitation Bureau 1938-1946|br|Public Health Bureau 1946-1948|br|Public Sanitation Bureau 1948-1984|br|Medical Bureau 1946-1984|br|Social Bureau 1945-1992|br|(When the Ministry of Health and Welfare was established in 1938, the Social Bureau was in existence but divided into the People's Health Bureau and Working Labour Bureau in 1943. Part of the People's Health Bureau and part of the Working Labour Bureau were unified and established as the Social Bureau in 1945.)|br|Child Bureau 1947-1964

- Establishing or dissolving incorporated foundations or associations, which are public-interest corporations established under the Civil Code, or modifying their articles of association requires the approval of the competent ministry/agency. Materials included in this unit consist of documents related to applications submitted by porated foundations or associations to the Ministry of Health and Welfare for approval for their establishment, dissolution or modification of their articles of association during the prewar and postwar periods.
