- In response to increased needs for closer cooperation among related ministries and based on the ground that meteorological observatory services should be administered as an external bureau under Article 3 of the National Government Organization Law rather than as an affiliated organization which is dedicated to experiment and research under Article 8 of the same law, the Meteorological Agency was established in July 1956 as an external bureau of the Ministry of Transport.
