- With abolishment of the Ministry of the Interior on December 31, 1947, official duties governed by the Local Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior was succeeded by the National Election Administration Commission, the Local Fiscal Committee, Internal Affairs Bureau (after abolishment of Internal Affairs Bureau, by the Prime Minister's Agency Secretariat Home Affairs Division). In June 1949, the Prime Minister's Agency Secretariat Home Affairs Division and the Local Fiscal Committee were combined and the Local Home Affairs Agency was set up as an external bureau of the Prime Minister's Office. Based on the Shoup Recommendation of June 1950, the Local Fiscal Committee was established as an external bureau of the Prime Minister's Office. In August 1952, the Local Home Affairs Agency, the Local Fiscal Committee and the National Election Administration Commission were combined and the Home Affairs Agency was established. In July 1960, it was evolved into the Ministry of Home Affairs whose internal departments and agencies included the Minister's Secretariat, the Administration Bureau, the Election Bureau, the Finance Bureau, and Tax Bureau, while the external bureau included the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. Due to restructuring in the central government ministries and agencies of January 2001, the Ministry of Home Affairs was integrated into the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
