On January 7, 1989, in accordance with the Era Name Act a cabinet decision was made to issue a cabinet order to change the era name to Heisei. On that day, Chief Cabinet Secretary Keizo Obuchi of the Noboru Takeshita Cabinet announced the new era name in the press conference room of the Prime Minister's Office. This is the framed calligraphy characters for Heisei, which Obuchi held up on that occasion. Size:31cm×41.5㎝
