Chart of plants 1

Chart of Plants was made by referring to the illustrations of animals and plants in "School and Family Charts" by M. Wilson & N.A. Kalkins. It consists of 10 illustrations: 5 of animals and 5 of plants. Multicolor paints are added on the outlines made with copper plates. Selected by Ono Motoyoshi (1838-90), (the great-grandson of the Bakufu Doctor, Ono Ranzan. He served in the Ministry of Education and worked in the field of museum). Published by the Ministry of Education in the 6th year of Meiji (1873). The collection of the archives is as follows. Chart of Plants 1-4, Chart of Animals 1,2,3,5.
Painted by Kato Chikusai (born in Tokyo, real name Tokushin. Apprentice of Kato Koshin. He taught at Tokyo Imperial University and painted a number of plant illustrations). In "the Introduction to Botany", he drew leaves and roots of plants as well as the shape of flowers in multicolor illustrations. The names of the plants are also inscribed in English. Original size: 58cm and 81cm
