Shinka Okawabashi nihyakubun no ichi shukuzu
The drawing was attached to a proposal document dated December 24, the 8th year of Meiji (1875) to replace the Azumabashi bridge crossing over the Sumidagawa river. It says that the bridge was aging with many rotten parts and its replacement by a Western-style wooden bridge was necessary. A photograph taken on the day of the opening ceremony in June, the 9th year of Meiji (1876) is also included here.
