Philadelphia World Expo staged in 1876 in commemoration of centennial of American independence exhibited history, textbooks, teaching tools and other items on education in Japan. After his return from the expo site, Minister of Education Tanaka Fujimaro compiled "Educational Report on American Centennial Expo." Photo was submitted by Ministry of Education to Grand Council of State in February, 1877. "Kobun Fuzoku no Zu" (Picutures and charts affiliated with Kobun Roku )containing this photo were designated an as National Important Cultural Properties of Japan in the 10th year of Heisei (1998) together with "Kobunroku"(Compiled Records of the Grand Council of State.)
