- The Tohoku Regional Development Bureau was established to investigate and take developmental measures in the Tohoku Region (1935 Edict No. 141). On Oct. 8, 1936, it was reorganized as the Tohoku Bureau, given the substantive authority of administrative supervision over both specialized Tohoku Regional Development Corporations, i.e., the Tohoku Regional Development Corporation and the Tohoku Regional Development Electric Power Corporation. On November 1, 1943, it was repealed due to the administrative restructuring, and its duties were transferred to the Cabinet Secretariat (1943 Edict No. 799).

- Scope and Content
- Minutes of meetings of the Establishment Committee for the Tohoku Regional Development Corporation and the Tohoku Regional Development Electric Power Corporation, which were established for the development of the Tohoku region, as well as documents of supervision of their business, documents related to general affairs at the corporations, etc. The Tohoku Industries and Corporations Law (1936 Law no. 15) and the Tohoku Regional Development Electric Power Corporation Law (1936, Law No. 16) were promulgated on May 27, 1936 and enforced on June 1, 1936. Both corporations were established on October 7, 1936.
